SALLY, JOHN,CORY FANTASTIC NIGHT! AS A NOVICE IN THIS WORLD WHAT A GREAT NIGHT YOU PUT ON. I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO LEARNING& ENJOYING BEER MORE,THANKS DAN
and I saw the sexiest bubbles in the world this morning.
Just wanted to let you guys know how things went with my Hoegaarden recipe. I didn't have too much trouble, but it did take significantly longer than in the class last Saturday. My OG was around 1.048-1.050 after a 0.002 temperature adjustment, nice. That's with the 6lbs of powdered wheat malt John gave me.
By far the hardest part was chilling the wort, I ran out of ice and had to pitch the yeast at 80. Next time, I may freeze the bottled water (I used distilled cause I thought it would definitely be sterile), cut them open and drop them into the bucket like ice cubes, and just ferment in the bucket.

Anyway, the whole thing was just awesome. I did manage to confuse the bittering hops with the flavoring hops (Mixed up the Kent and East Kent), so I guess the flavoring hops oils boiled away. Oh well. I just hope it tastes like beer.
Thanks again everybody. I'll be by the store in a couple weeks.
